Safety and compliance software specialist Fleetworthy will acquire Haul for an undisclosed sum, the companies said June 10.

Haul, headed by two former Uber Freight employees, specializes in artificial intelligence compliance and safety automation technology.

The AI-powered technology focuses on tasks including automated document audits, driver onboarding and scorecarding, plus real-time compliance monitoring.

“This acquisition is a pivotal moment in our growth as we transform the way fleets manage compliance and safety,” said Mike Precia, Fleetworthy chief strategy officer. “Haul’s platform brings powerful automation, actionable insights and intuitive user experiences that align perfectly with our vision of delivering the best fleet technology.”

“We want to see that a vendor is as serious as we are about compliance, and they checked that box,” Precia told Transport Topics in an interview.

The founders met while working at Uber Freight in the Bay Area as “water cooler buddies,” as the company’s services were being expanded beyond ride sharing, Henry said. Haul now has 10 employees.

“We’re a pretty lean and mean software company,” he told TT.

That said, Henry noted that Haul set a standard of meeting the high expectations of its customers, which he said included some of the nation’s largest fleets. That meant adding scale.

“Toan and I do like scale,” he said. “Toan and I had scale when we were at Uber Freight, and we’re excited to have scale at Fleetworthy.”

Specifically, he noted with the Fleetworthy deal Haul can, “bring a product to every fleet, especially fleets with less than 10 power units.”

The companies, said Precia, were “a perfect match in regards of advances in the technology side that they have made and the ecosystem that we have made. We feel we will do some great things together.”

He noted Haul had already done a lot of the work in developing and deploying artificial intelligence tools that Fleetworthy had on its agenda. “This expedites our mission in terms of serving our customers,” Precia said.

“This move helps us to serve a broader range of customers and offer solutions that leverage the latest technologies to help fleets of all sizes more efficiently manage safety and compliance,” added Shay Demmons, chief product officer of Fleetworthy.

The acquisition of Haul is the latest expansion of the services offered by Fleetworthy, which traces its roots to toll management and payment platform provider Bestpass. That company acquired what was then known as Fleetworthy Solutions in November 2023. The combined companies rebranded as Fleetworthy in September 2024.

The combined entity bought telematics and safety technology provider and public-private weigh station network operator Drivewyze in August 2024. That December, Fleetworthy bought commercial vehicle parking violation management and resolution software provider Empire Commercial Services.
