A truck parts distributor with facilities in 11 states is closing.
Transaxle filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, informing the state it is laying off more than 200 people on the East Coast, including nine employees at 22073 Perry Highway in Jackson Township, Butler County, near Zelienople.
The company said in the WARN notice that it has been trying to sell the business, but those efforts haven’t been successful.
“Despite our efforts we have not been able to consummate a sale at this time. As a result, the company finds itself in the difficult position of having to conduct an orderly wind down of the business,” Transaxle said in the WARN notice.
All 80 employees at the following company facilities will be laid off between July 15 and July 29:
- 22073 Perry Highway, Zelienople, Pa (Nine employees)
- 2527 Scott Futrell Drive, Charlotte, N.C. (Three employees)
- 429 Lake Road, Killingly, Conn. (Four employees)
- 73 Windsor Highway, New Windsor, N.Y. (Five employees)
- 1406 Management Way, Garner, N.C. (Nine employees)
- 1200 Bruce St., Richmond, Va. (Four employees)
- 7901 Yarnwood Court, Springfield, Va. (Six employees)
- 2299 Terminal Road, Saint Paul, Minn. (Six employees)
- 8 Scott Drive, Westbrook, Maine (18 employees)
- 7420 Asheville Highway, Knoxville, Tenn. (One employee)
- 5158 Kennedy Road, Forest Park, Ga. (Five employees)
- 178 Alco Place, Baltimore (10 employees)
All 129 employees at the following facilities will be laid off between Aug. 15 and Aug. 29:
- 1700 Sherman Ave., Pennsauken, N.J. (20 employees)
- 7103 Westfield Ave., Pennsauken, N.J. (Nine employees)
- 2501 Route 73 South, Cinnaminson, N.J. (91 employees)
- 540 Huyler St., South Hackensack, N.J. (Nine employees)
The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered business closing and a covered-business mass layoff. The WARN notice was dated May 16.
The New Jersey company was founded in 1979.
