This week, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) charged a truck driver who allegedly entered a construction area after bypassing several signs, causing “a significant safety risk.”

JCSO responded to a reported traffic hazard on State Road 7 North at 1 p.m. on June 23.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that a 53 foot semi truck had “unlawfully entered” an active construction zone occupied by multiple dump trucks, heavy machinery, and numerous construction workers.

“The driver had bypassed nine clearly posted warning signs including notices of road closure, detour directions, rumble strips, and multiple barricades before entering the restricted zone,” police said.

JCSO said that the incident posed a “significant safety risk.”

A 22 year old California-based truck driver identified by police as “Ankush” was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Driving (A-Misdemeanor).
