An armed woman is currently blocking Interstate 45 in Houston in a lawn chair after apparently crashing with a semi truck. 

The incident happened near the 17700 block of the I-45 North Freeway near Cypresswood Drive in Houston, Texas. The crash occurred and the standoff began at about 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 26th. 

According to Click2Houston News, the woman was initially involved in an accident with a semi truck. After the accident, she exited her car with a handgun and set up a lawn chair in the middle of the freeway. 

“She ignored all verbal commands given to her to drop the weapon,” reported Harris County Constable Mark Herman.

The woman soon engaged in a standoff with police. As of 3 p.m., negotiators has contacted a family member to see if they could help to resolve the situation.

Southbound traffic is being detoured at SH 99, while northbound vehicles are being rerouted at Cypresswood Drive.
