Firefighters battled a trucking company fire for about six hours in Illinois earlier this week.
The incident occurred just after noon on June 25th in the 2200 block of 5th Street in Lincoln, Illinois.
According to WCIA, a fire at Lincoln Transload and Processing started in the basement level and traveled through the duct work to the upper levels of the building. Firefighters used multiple tanker trucks, ladder trucks, and a very large fan truck to extinguish the fire and clear the smoke from the trucking company building.
Crews spent six hours battling the flames and ensuring no remaining embers existed in the duct work. All trucking company employees were able to evacuate the building without injury. One firefighter was hospitalized with heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported.
“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all assisting agencies who spent over 6 hours in the heat to get the fire extinguished,” wrote the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District in a Facebook post.
Information regarding the cause of the fire has not been released.
