The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol put the brakes on a commercial truck and driver for distracted driving and other violations.

On July 4, 2025, a commercial truck was pulled over by the AZDPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Team on I-10 near Eloy, Arizona, for “speeding” at 75 m.p.h.

According to AZDPS Highway Patrol, the trooper who initiated the traffic stop saw that the driver “was watching a YouTube video behind the wheel.”

Additionally, the driver was in violation of a previous federal out-of-service order.

Troopers placed the driver and truck out-of-service “on the spot” and issued a citation to the driver.

AZDPS additionally reported stopping another commercial vehicle driver for using his cellphone while driving.

In order to avoid distracted driving, AZDPS encourages drivers to use Hands-Free if possible, to utilize smartphone assistant applications, or to put phones on Do Not Disturb while driving.
