The national average diesel price showed a modest post-holiday uptick, rising 1.2 cents a gallon to $3.739 a gallon, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released July 8.
The current increase is the second in three weeks; a 20.4-cent increase June 23 was followed by a 4.8-cent decline a week later.
The price for a gallon of trucking’s main fuel is now 12.6 cents less than at this time in 2024.

Regional Trends
The average price for a gallon of diesel rose in four of the five PADD regions, with the steepest increase 4.1 cents in the West Coast. The West Coast less California posted a 5.3-cent gain. The East Coast’s 1-cent dip marked the only PADD region decline, though the New England subregion was down 1.3 cents.

Gasoline Update
The national average price for a gallon of gasoline was down 3.9 cents to $3.125 a gallon. That’s 36.4 cents less than at this time a year ago.
