A truck driver says he has “no need to play anymore” after playing the lottery and winning during a night in Maryland.
Trucker Clayton Webb had finished making a delivery in Silver Spring, Maryland on July 1st and was staying at a motel in College Park for the night when he walked over to a Wawa and put $5 in the lottery vending machine.
Not long after, Webb realized that his $5 play had won him $50,000.
“I folded it and put it in my pocket,” he said to the Maryland Lottery. “No need to play any more after that.”
Webb was able to claim his prize at the Maryland Lottery headquarters on July 2nd before heading back home to North Carolina. Webb says he will spend at least part of his winnings on a new engine for his yard tractor, which recently broke down. He says he needs the tractor to mow his 52 acres of grass.
“When I’m not driving a truck, I’m on my tractor,” he said.
