Canadian police are already cracking down on commercial vehicle drivers ahead of a major driver-focused blitz that starts this weekend.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Safe Driver Week enforcement detail is taking place Sunday, July 13, through Saturday, July 19, 2025, throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement agencies will monitor commercial and passenger vehicle drivers for dangerous behaviors like speeding or distracted driving that could contribute to a crash.
The Ontario Provincial Police’s (OPP) Highway Safety Division appears to be getting an early start on the CVSA driver blitz. On Friday, July 11, OPP highlighted commercial vehicle violations uncovered on Highway 400 in the Bradford area that resulted in out-of-service orders.
“Operation Safe Driver Week is July 13-19, but safe driving responsibility is every day. The driver of this truck was pulled over on Highway 400/89 due to load not being covered. Further investigation determined that one brake assembly was not functioning and another out of adjustment. CMV was placed out of service until issues were repaired,” the agency said.

“Operation Safe Driver. Highway 400/88, routine check of vehicle determined brakes were out of adjustment. Vehicle placed out-of-service until issue rectified,” said police.
