The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently called out a commercial vehicle driver for “less-than-stellar decision-making” related to speeding and drug infractions.

On July 14, troopers with CHP’s Mountain Pass Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility, located in Nipton, California, made a teaching moment out of a CMV driver’s bad day.

Transporting alcohol or drugs in the cab of your commercial vehicle is never a good idea. Trying to toss it out the window after getting pulled over for speeding? Somehow, even worse. One driver learned this the hard way and is now enjoying a mandatory 24-hour “time out” to reflect on some less-than-stellar decision-making. Let’s all take this as a lesson: good judgment travels better than contraband,” troopers said.

CHP shared an image of the citation issued to the driver, which shows an approximate speed of 73 m.p.h., exceeding the 55 m.p.h. maximum speed limit, along with the “Hustler’s Ambition” cannabis cigarettes reportedly tossed from the cab. The citation also lists a “No log book” violation.
