A truck driver has been released from jail after throwing a “cup of liquid” at an off-duty deputy sheriff during a road rage incident in Florida earlier this month.
The incident happened on July 7th in Polk County, Florida.
According to CBS 12, 36-year-old truck driver Lou Edmond was driving westbound on an unspecified highway when an off-duty deputy sheriff noticed him driving recklessly. When the off-duty officer pulled closer to the commercial vehicle to take note of the DOT number, Edmond reportedly threw a styrofoam “cup of liquid” through the open window of the officer’s car.
The off-duty officer contacted deputies in the area to report the incident, and Edmond was promptly located and arrested. The semi truck was towed away, and Edmond was booked on battery charges. He has since been released on a $1,000 bond.
“Just behave. No road rage, no reckless driving. Our professional truck drivers are awesome. He was an embarrassment to all of them,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
