Plans for an electric truck charging depot have been approved near the Port of Oakland.
The Greenville Community Charging Depot will be built on a 4.4-acre site just off I-580 in Livermore, California. Forum Mobility has been approved for $4.5 million in financing from East Bay Community Energy – the energy provider for Alameda County and the city of Tracy, reported Electrek. The station will be able to accommodate 96 electric trucks.
The depot is part of a new network of electric truck charging stations intended for commercial trucks going to and from the Port of Oakland. In order to comply with the California Air Resources Board’s recently approved rules requiring all of California’s in-state trucking fleets to be zero-emission by 2035, the state will need 157,000 medium and heavy duty truck chargers by 2030.
Exact specifications for the electric truck charging depot have not been released.
