Students at an elementary school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, recently got a chance to learn more about the trucking industry thanks to a nearby trade school’s truck driver training program.

On April 9, students at Timber Ridge Elementary in Broken Arrow were treated to a visit from members of Central Tech‘s Truck Driver Training program to teach students about careers in trucking.

The visit was inspired by three fourth graders attending Timber Ridge who wrote to Central Tech about their dreams of becoming truck drivers when they grew up. The Central Tech team responded by bringing a truck to the school and providing an educational session for the kids on trucking.

During the school visit, students got to look under the hood, sit in the driver’s seat, and even “honk the horn!”

“What a great reminder that career dreams can start early — and a simple letter can lead to big opportunities. Shoutout to Central Tech for making it a ‘once in a lifetime’ day, as one of the boys called it,” Broken Arrow Public Schools said.
