Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating an overpass strike that occurred in Henrico on Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on March 11 on I-95 south at mile marker 83 in Henrico, Virginia.

A truck hauling an excavator on I-95 struck the overpass. The debris from the overpass strike then triggered a crash involving five vehicles.

No major injuries were reported.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are on scene assessing the overpass for damage.

According to VDOT, traffic is being diverted off I-95 southbound at Exit 84B. As of 10:19 a.m. there were 2.5 mile traffic backups reported.

VSP says that drivers should expect long delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
