An officer-involved shooting involving a semi truck is under investigation by police in Jacksonville, Florida.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. on March 10 on southbound I-95 in Jacksonville.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office  (JSO) a 70 year old North Carolina-based truck driver was en route from Charlotte to Cape Coral.

The truck driver was driving south on I-95 near Atlantic Boulevard when he allegedly “came into contact with” an unmarked vehicle driven by JSO Lieutenant Marc Crawford.

JSO says that the semi truck and unmarked vehicle “may have come into contact more than once.”

Crawford “who works a plain clothes assignment and was not wearing a body worn camera, exited his vehicle and fired four shots into the truck near the engine bay,” police said.

The semi truck driver was uninjured. Crawford was treated for a shoulder injury.

Crawford has worked for JSO for 21 years and this is his fourth officer-involved shooting, according to JSO.

This is an active investigation, and JSO is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with video to come forward.
